My pet needs to go to the vet. Will you take them?

We are happy to take your hedgehog to our trusted vet at Vets4Pets York if we discover any worrying signs or symptoms during morning health checks.

How much experience do you have with pygmy hedgehogs?

We have been proud and loving owners of hedgies for over 7+ years. Due to how new and growingly popular these pets are becoming we felt we could assist the UK community of aspiring and current owners with our expertise after covid.

What is required to board my hedgehog?

Before you can house your hedgehog under our care we require an upfront payment via Paypal at least 48 hours before drop off. This is to protect your money and our business commitments to you.

You are also required to sign an agreement in regards to veterinary costs and foster care if the situation occurred in which the owner didn't return for the pet. (It has happened in the past :( )

Can I see my pet while I am away?

Absolutely! One of our unique services is that we provide you a 24/7 livestream of your hedgehog within their vivarium. This allows you to check up on them whenever you like while on holiday.

We also provide daily photos and videos for your social media.

What will you feed my hedgehog?

We want to make their nutrition not only of premium quality but also fully customizable to you. For hard food we give 'Purina Go Cat Tender Chicken & Beef'. For wet food we have 'IAMS Chicken & Gravy', or 'Hi Life Tender Chicken' (A personal favourite among ours).

At around 2pm we give a small snack of either live bugs, fresh chicken, scrambled egg or 'Dreamies' beef or chicken.

Their water is kept fresh daily along with being enhanced with Avi Pro Plus Probiotic for extra fibre.

If you would prefer we give them food from your home they are used to just provide the bags and we will return the remaining contents on their collection day.

What will my hedgehog sleep in?

We keep our hedgehogs in 4ft vivariums that are 50cm deep for added room. These are kept at 24 degrees celcius for cosy comfort along with back up heat bulbs in case of emergencies.

You can choose their preferred bedding from igloos, fleece blankets, lamb skin, fleece pieces for nesting and super fleece.

If you want to provide your own we can use that too. We do recommend bringing one piece of fabric like a t shirt, or bedding that they can associate smell with for relaxation and reduced stress.

My hedgehog requires medication. Will you give it to them?

As long as it isn't intrusive to the pet we are happy to provide medication such as syringe and edible. This is also covered in our signed agreement before boarding.
